The new facility replaced the former tented camp with a modern lodge in a breathtaking setting offering visitors stunning views of the canopy forest directly opposite. The lodge is situated in a large tract of land contiguous withe National Park bordering the Munyaga river and the park boundary.The name ‘Engagi’ means gorilla in the local Rukiga dialect from where the lodge has taken it’s name. A spacious open plan design seamlessly blends a restaurant and bar with a large wooden verandah with a separate outdoor viewing platform.The accommodadtion comprises eight en-suite cottages all very private and each with a wonderful verandah on which guests may enjoy tea or coffee in the morning as they ready themselves for the days activities.Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is an exceptionally rich and varied ecosystem. It is one of the most unique and important forests in Africa. The park ranges from lowland to afro-montane forest – a moist tropical forest that is unique in Uganda and rare among East African protected areas.
